So you’ve booked your first pole class, what’s next?
We recommend that you familiarise yourself with the location of the studio. We’re on the first floor, 77 - 79 high street, Watford, WD17 2DJ. There’s a large door that you may need to push quite hard to get in. If not, there’s a bell you can ring to let us know you’re there.
The closest parking is Church Street car park, about 2 minutes walk. The closest station is Watford High Street, about a 6 minute walk from the studio.
Please arrive 5 minutes before your class starts so you can change and be ready for the warm up on time.
Skin grip is very key for pole dancing and pole fitness. We’d suggest you wear shorts and a sports bra or vest or t-shirt. As a beginner you’ll be trying shapes such as pole seats, which will require skin grip between your legs, as well as climbs which require shin grip. As you progress with pole you’ll eventually need more skin grip, so that’s one of the reasons more experienced polers wear very little clothing. Please avoid moisturising the day of your class, as this will make the poles slippery and you’ll find it harder to grip the pole.
Pole can work up quite a sweat, so we’d suggest bringing a bottle of water with you, and a small towel, like you would for the gym. Some students also use grip aids, similar to liquid chalk, to help grip the pole better. You can explore different grip aids here.
Unlike other studios, we have a maximum of one to a pole in classes, meaning there are only 7 students in each pole class. This means we can provide you with better quality teaching and offer you dedicated support and help, and everyone in the class gets the attention they deserve from the instructor. It also means that you’re less likely to bump into someone else.
That’s absolutely fine and completely normal! Everyone gets nervous when they try new things! Everyone in the room was once in your position and remembers what it’s like to feel nervous. We’re a really friendly studio, and the instructors and students are really lovely and supportive. We want you to be as comfortable as possible, so instructors will always be able to give you options to work on. And it’s completely normal to not get everything for the first time in pole. Sometimes it takes months or even years of hard work to achieve new tricks or spins, but it’s so worth it!
